We made reservations for a girls tea time. Staff is super friendly and we enjoyed our first time visit! We got to try 3 different tea and our tea staff host was so informative. He shared so much knowledge about teas, how to prepare it, and showed us different techniques. We really enjoyed our time there and it was quite tranquility environment. We got to drink tea while spilling the "tea" hehehe . Great place to go to for all tea lovers! We loved one of the tea so much we ended up getting one of the tea to bring home. Do I recommend this place: absolutely! I can't wait to return and try more of their teas!

After three visits here, I am glad I have had chances to experience it before the business moves to its new location on E. 7th St. Last year Eric R. and I came here to check it out and really enjoyed the experience, so this past weekend we went twice: Friday night with our friend Melinda C. who also was in Austin for the weekend, and Sunday before we returned to the airport. This wonderful place offers tea for your table (you can order tea and sit and enjoy privately), loose leaf tea for sale, and a communal tea bar. We have enjoyed the tea bar each time, and Friday night it was so busy, the staff kindly started a new tea bar in a back room for us and another party. There is an intricate tea ceremony with many components that the staff makes look easy. Each tea is stepped several times so guests can taste differences with each steep. As you sit and enjoy, each pot of tea (with several steeps and refills) costs $5 per person. The person performing and serving will take requests and explain the regions on the map of China to describe where teas are from and why they have certain characteristics. If you are too "tea drunk" or do not like a certain tea, you can slide your little tea cup behind the coaster, and you can opt out of pours until the next tea is prepared. Tea leaves and excess water are discarded in bowls with tea pets for composting. If you enjoy a tea you tasted, you get a 10% discount on its purchase. The new location is being renovated, so enjoy this one until mid-December.

This is such a cool place. I went here and did the private tea service. We wanted non caffeinated and the host put together some off menu options for us. They were very pretty and smelled nice. I liked the orange one and the other one with hibiscus. The butterfly pea tea one was pretty and not super tasty. It was still fun to try. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, definitely recommend. I want to go back and try the community table too!

I've always wanted to go to West China Tea House and finally got around to doing it! The environment is super peaceful and staff is extremely knowledgeable about tea, the health benefits and they have some beautiful tea gift sets! I love the social sitting they have where you can converse with strangers and sip on some tasty tea. I ended up purchasing some infused Elderberry Honey and tea on the way out. This location is closing in a few months so be sure to visit. I plan to come back again!! Be mindful that the parking lot is pretty small and it's right off the highway.

This is a nice place to learn about tea in a casual and inviting place. The staff are always friendly and chill, and I always have a good interaction with other customers. There's an option for communal seating or private seating at your own table. I've sat at the communal bar/counter both times I've been. You share a few pots of tea and can sometimes request certain types of tea to be served. I recommend this place to anyone looking to try something new! Pro tip: slow down well before you think you need to turn b/c the driveway blends in. The parking lot is on the smaller side, but I've never had issues finding a spot.

This is a very cute place! I came in around 2 PM on a random Tuesday afternoon by myself when I was in the area, and I dropped in on a tea session going on for a small group of UT students. Even though it was just me, the tea master who was pouring (Leland) had me pull up a chair and join. It's $5 per person per pot of tea, and each time a pot is brewed, they give you a little bit at a time in your cup and go around the table, then brew more from that batch until the teapot is empty. I didn't stay long since it was my first time but I had a lovely Pu-er tea, and got to sample a long steep plum white tea that was my favorite of the two. The place doesn't look big from outside but it's the size of a small house inside so it's a good space! There's a small area out back with a bench too where you can have tea if you'd like. They have lots of traditional Chinese tea options on the menu, so there's something for everyone. All the staff were very friendly, and the vibe was chill, and the company was good. I had a lovely time, Im sure I'll go back with some friends at some point

A very interesting experience. My friends and I went to the tea bar which was really fun to learn about different teas and try them in a traditional method. Our "bartender" was very knowledgeable and very chill, it was really fun overall.

My wife and I came by after enjoying a Japanese tea tasting just over a month ago elsewhere and constantly driving by this place. Happy we did. We sat at the bar and enjoyed around 4-5 pots of different teas served to everyone sitting around. Our server educated us on all the things happening while taking questions and obviously enjoying his parr in it all. We left with some tea coin samples and another tea set to supplement our own stock. My wife is a Sommelier, so her pleasure speaks volume for the tasting experience. Great service, beautiful atmosphere, nice vibe with the music, great tea. 5 stars.

Nut allergies beware!...just kidding, tea has no nuts. Stellar service and experience with Nick today with our party of six. We did the private tea tasting and were able to select four teas to have a Gongfu Cha experience over 2 hours and 15 minutes. The experience means that the tea is steeped quickly around 10 times, and you sample the tea at different levels of steeping to identify how the flavors mature. So we got around 30-40 small cups of tea over that course of time. ($20/hr/person = $270 for our group) Nick was great conversation during our time, along with sharing his wealth of tea knowledge. I'm not sure if it's something I would do often due to the cost, but the offering is fantastic and they do other styles like self service and a "brewer's choice" tea bar that are more affordable. Parking can get a bit difficult as their lot is pretty small off the feeder road. Look for the "Tea here" sign!
